The combination of peanut butter and chocolate has been a classic pairing for decades, and this vegan Easter candy recipe takes this timeless duo to a new level.

The creamy, nutty flavor of the peanut butter perfectly complements the smooth, rich taste of the milk or dark chocolate, creating a decadent treat that is difficult to resist.

Spotlight on These Homemade Peanut Butter Chocolates
You and your kids will love this bunny peanut butter and chocolate candy recipe for several reasons. Here are just a few:
Delicious taste: The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is a classic flavor that appeals to both adults and children alike. The rich, creamy texture of peanut butter and the smooth, silky chocolate create a mouth-watering treat that is difficult to resist.
Easy to make: This recipe is easy to make and requires only a few main ingredients. It’s a great activity to do with your kids on a lazy afternoon or as a fun weekend project. No need for a food processor or blender, just a small to medium bowl and a silicone mold are all you will have to clean up. Now that’s my type of homemade Easter treat!
Vegan-friendly: Homemade Peanut Butter Chocolates are vegan-friendly, which means they’re free from animal products. This makes them an excellent choice for those who follow a plant-based diet. And, boy am I thrilled that there are plant-based alternatives to classic Reese’s eggs! Those were my favorite Easter basket goodies growing up.

Healthier snack option: Unlike many other candies, these treats are made with all-natural ingredients and are free from artificial flavors and preservatives.
They’re a great alternative to store-bought chocolate peanut butter cups that are often high in sugar and other additives. Grab some sugar-free and dairy-free chocolate chips for this healthier alternative Reese’s cup recipe.

Perfect for sharing: Bunny peanut butter chocolates are a great treat to share with family and friends. You can make a big batch and store them in the fridge or freezer for later, or package them up and put them out for Easter dessert.

The Ingredients
I am not sure about you, but Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs were my childhood jam. So, making a homemade version but in a fun bunny shape brings back all the good vibes. Here are the simple ingredients that you will need to make them:
All-natural peanut butter: This nut butter is the heartiness behind these homemade easter bunny chocolates. You can certainly substitute peanut butter for almond butter or cashew butter if you prefer.
Pure maple syrup: Although I have not tried it, honey can be a simple replacement for maple syrup if needed.

Chocolate: Use your favorite chocolate in this recipe. Go for vegan, milk, or dark chocolate chips. As long as you like it, all is good. I personally use Lily’s vegan chocolate chips for my recipe.
Coconut oil: Once the melted coconut oil dries, it will harden the chocolate and make it the perfect consistency.
Sprinkles: While this is an optional ingredient, if you are making these with or for your kids, it no longer becomes optional, right? LOL.

The Instructions
You can find the full recipe below. Here is a breakdown of the simple steps.
Step one: Grab a small saucepan and a glass bowl that fits on the top of the pan. It is too small if the bottom of the bowl touches the bottom of the pan. Use them together to create a double boiler.
Step two: Add about 2 inches of water to the pan. Place the microwave-safe bowl on top of the pan. Add all of the ingredients, except the sprinkles, to the small bowl. Turn the stove up to high heat until the water boils.
Once it begins to boil, turn it down to low heat. Stir the chocolate mixture frequently until it becomes completely smooth with no chunks. Remove everything from the heat.

Step three: Use a small bunny or Easter-themed silicone mold and fill the holes completely with chocolate. Top with optional sprinkles. Make sure to clean the edges around the mold so that the chocolate comes out with smooth and clean edges.
Step four: Place the mold tray into the fridge for about an hour or more.

Step five: Once you are ready to eat, carefully remove the chocolates by pressing on the underside of the mold.
Once you pull them out of the fridge, make sure to eat them right away otherwise they will melt.

Storage
This is one of the easiest Easter recipes to not only make but to store. For best results, simply transfer these to an airtight container and store them in the freezer. You can absolutely keep them in the fridge for a softer texture.

Tips + Modifications
While peanut butter is the top choice, for individuals with food allergies to peanut butter, definitely try switching to sunflower butter. I have not personally tried this but I am sure it will work.
You do not have to make bunnies. Go ahead and grab any silicone mold that you desire for these chocolates. I definitely would keep them on the smaller side, however.
If you are a salt lover, you can switch out the sprinkle topping for sea salt.
